LOUISVILLE, KY, June 5, 2015 – Bowie Resource Partners, LLC (“BRP”) announced today it has closed a transaction with PacifiCorp (“PacifiCorp”) to supply the coal requirements for PacifiCorp’s Huntington Power Plant near Huntington, Utah through 2029 and to acquire approximately 50 million tons of undeveloped, high heat, low sulfur coal reserves in Utah from an affiliate of PacifiCorp. “We are excited about this unique 15-year partnership with our largest customer,” said BRP’s Executive Chairman, John Siegel.
BRP is one of the nation’s largest Western Bituminous coal producers with four underground mines in Utah and Colorado. PacifiCorp is one of the West’s leading electric utilities, serving approximately 1.8 million customers in six states. This utility has a diverse portfolio of generating facilities including hydroelectric, coal, natural gas, geothermal and wind sources produced through two business divisions of PacifiCorp, which includes Rocky Mountain Power and Pacific Power. Collectively, PacifiCorp provides electric service to customers in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington and northern California.
